ABOUT KFJ BAND: (@kaykuti , @alaafia14 , @joeykeysade )
KFJ is a band composed of brothers, in both a literal and figurative sense, who descend from an ancestral lineage of the Yoruba people from West Africa. Born into families with music as one of their core values these brothers were exposed to a plethora of musical influences at a young age.
These influences have molded the band’s experiences and skill sets over the years as they have played together in various bands since coming to New York.
Composed of Kayode (bass guitar and vocal), Fola (drums and percussion) and Joseph (keyboard and vocal), the New York based trio were born out of necessity. After performing behind countless bandleaders as an ace rhythm section, KFJ, sets out on its own to bring the essentials of music back to the dance floor with their Afro-Jazz fusion.
Their music is a unique layering of dense and intoxicating tempos, paying homage to traditional African instruments infused with Jazz notes, obscured by a textured fog of percussion, slow buzzes and submerged rhythms. ✨

Tonight we have a birthday bash for Paul Goldfinger at 8pm! Paul is a Brooklyn based bassist, teacher, and recording artist. During the day he works with kids in grades K-12 and can often be found playing basketball with fourth graders. By night he is practicing, writing, and playing music at various well known venues around NYC.
Paul is recognized for his versatility and creativity as a bassist/composer. He is also known for his ability to have fun with his bandmates and audiences.

Tomorrow at 6 we have Jean Ramirez! Jean
is a New York City based vocalist who returned to New York in 2019 after living in the San Francisco Bay area for 14 years. While honing her craft as a vocalist in San Francisco, she delved into the world of jazz vocals which deepened and expanded her vocal work and musical world. Jean studied with several of her vocal muses from Molly Holm, Ken Helman, Audrey Howitt, Anita Wardell, Jay Clayton, Andrea Wolper, and others. She integrates her love of beautiful melodies, lyrical expression, and strong rhythmic sensibilities in interpreting the Great American Songbook, jazz standards, Bossa Novas, and World Music.
Jean regularly performed all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Since moving back, Jean have performed and continues to sing at Hermana NYC, Coby Club, Penny Jo's Uptown, Telio's Restaurant, Anyway Cafe, as well as the Make Music Day New York.

Tonight at 7 we have Gary Kerkezou, a NYC based drummer and violin player. Born in a family of professional musicians, she moved to Boston from Greece for her undergraduate studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where she was accepted with the Berklee European Tour Scholarship, the Kostas Kouvidis Foundation Scholarship, and the BIN Augmentation Award. There, she soon started performing and recording in the greater New England area on a daily basis on both her instruments and two years later she joined the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra on the 1st violins.

Kazemde George is an African American jazz saxophonist, composer, and beat-maker based in Brooklyn who exhibits a gift for streamlined, emotionally direct melodies, articulated with a warm tone and a certain guiding restraint. Raised by Caribbean parents in Berkeley, California, Kaz was exposed to a wide range of musical styles, and has been playing Piano, Saxophone, and Percussion from an early age.
